The Hanoi Department of Education and Training announced the 10th-grade entrance scores for 115 public high schools on the evening of 4/7. The 12 schools with the highest entrance scores are mostly familiar names that have led the rankings for many years.
Kim Lien High School topped the list with a score of 25.5/30, based on the combined scores of math, literature, and foreign language. Last year, the school was in the top 5 with an average score of 8.35, 0.15 lower than this year.
Last year's top school, Chu Van An High School, is not on this year's list due to its transition to a specialized school model.
Viet Duc and Phan Dinh Phung high schools tied for second place with an entrance score of 25.25. Last year, they ranked 8th and 5th, respectively.
The remaining schools in the top 12 include Nguyen Gia Thieu, Yen Hoa, Nguyen Thi Minh Khai, Thang Long, Nhan Chinh, Le Quy Don - Ha Dong, Cau Giay, Le Quy Don - Dong Da, and Tran Phu - Hoan Kiem high schools. The last four schools all had the same entrance score of 23.75.
Considering the average score per subject, four schools increased their standards compared to last year: Kim Lien, Viet Duc, Phan Dinh Phung, and Tran Phu - Hoan Kiem.
Nguyen Thi Minh Khai High School maintained its average score of 8.25 per subject, while the others saw a decrease, though the changes were minimal, ranging from 0.02 to 0.58 points.
The public 10th-grade entrance exam took place on 6-7/6. According to the Hanoi Department of Education and Training, at least 64% of students, equivalent to over 81,000, will have a place in public 10th-grade classes this year.
