15 provinces and cities announce tentative schedule for public 10th grade entrance exams

Public 10th grade entrance exams in most provinces and cities are set for late may or early july, with Da Nang being the earliest.

As of early march, 15 localities have announced their tentative schedules for the public 10th grade entrance exams.

Instead of taking place in early june as in previous years, most provinces and cities have shifted their exams to late may or early july. This change is due to the national high school graduation exam, which is scheduled for 11-12/6, two weeks earlier than usual. Departments of Education and Training adjusted the 10th grade exam schedule to ensure proper organization.

Da Nang will host the earliest 10th grade entrance exam, anticipated from 23-25/5. Quang Ninh will hold the latest exams, around 3-5/7.

Hai Phong, Phu Tho, and Quang Ngai are still planning their exams for early june.

Regarding exam subjects, most localities have chosen a foreign language (primarily english) as the third subject. This aligns with the strategy of making english a second language in schools. Tuyen Quang is the only province to select natural sciences as the third subject.

According to the Ministry of Education and Training, localities must complete 10th grade admissions by 31/7, either through exams or by review.

If an entrance exam is held, it will include math, literature, and a third subject (or a combined test). The third subject is chosen by the locality from the following groups: foreign language, civic education, natural sciences, history and geography, technology, and informatics. Localities cannot choose the same subject for more than three consecutive years, and they must announce their selection by 31/3.

Last year, english (or a foreign language) was the choice for nearly 60 of the 63 former provinces and cities.
