On the morning of 27/6, over 1.1 million students completed the high school graduation exam with two elective subjects. Nearly 353,000 of the 1.14 million students following the new curriculum chose English.
Last year, when English was still a compulsory subject, out of nearly one million examinees, over 560 achieved perfect scores. Conversely, 145 students failed (scoring 1 or below). Nearly 42.7% of the exam papers were below average. The average score achieved by students was 5.51.

The high school graduation exam took place on 26-27/6 with more than 1.16 million students. Those following the 2018 curriculum took two compulsory subjects: math and literature. In addition, they chose two subjects from the following group: chemistry, physics, biology, geography, history, economics and law education, computer science, technology, and foreign languages (English, German, Russian, Japanese, French, Chinese, and Korean).
Except for literature, which is an essay-based exam, the remaining subjects are multiple-choice tests, consisting of one to three sections, corresponding to three types of questions.
Section I comprises questions with 4 answer choices, similar to the graduation exams of recent years. Correctly answering each question earns students 0.25 points.
Section II consists of true/false questions, with each question containing 4 statements. Students receive 0.1 points for correctly identifying one statement in a question; 0.25 for two; and 0.5 for three. Only by correctly answering all four statements do students receive the full 1 point. This is a new feature compared to previous years.
Section III requires students to write short answers for each question. For math, each correct answer is worth 0.5 points, while other subjects award 0.25 points.
The 2025 high school graduation exam scores will be announced on 16/7.
