50 high school teams advance to FARC 2025 national finals

50 teams have advanced past nearly 200 competitors in the regional Robotics round to enter the FPTU AI & Robotics Challenge (FARC) 2025 national finals, taking place in August.

This nationwide technology competition, organized by FPT University, is designed for high school students passionate about technology. After nearly three weeks of competition in the Robotics round, the top 50 teams have been selected, comprising 20 teams from the North, 15 from Ho Chi Minh City, 10 from Da Nang and Quy Nhon, and 5 from Can Tho.

The final round is scheduled for 2/8-3/8 at FPT University Hanoi. Prizes include first, second, and third place awards (two teams for each), along with additional prizes and full scholarships from FPT University.

The regional Robotics round took place from 21/6 to 6/7 in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, Quy Nhon (Gia Lai), and Can Tho. More than 180 teams from high schools competed on the theme of "Sustainable Agriculture," tackling real-world technology problems such as greenhouse operation and seed production and distribution.

During the 2 minute 30 second matches, each team had to work closely together in an alliance format (two teams, two robots), performing tasks both simultaneously and sequentially. The judging panel noted the students' flexible technological thinking, mastery of equipment, and skillful strategies.

Dr. Le Ngoc Tuan, Director of Technology Experience at FPT Education Organization, FPT Corporation, shared that the organization aims to create a platform not just about technology, but also one where students can develop important skills such as negotiation, strategic thinking, and teamwork.

"This is an opportunity for students to connect and interact with peers from different regions, share knowledge, and experience the diverse cultures across Vietnam," he stated.

The alliance competition model requires students to coordinate effectively with their partner team, fostering collaboration and adaptability under pressure. These are essential skills for the technology field and for future growth.

Mr. Nguyen Hung Quan, Head of Admissions at FPT University and Head of the Organizing Committee, stated that FARC 2025 is a meaningful experience for high school students. "By immersing themselves in STEAM and Robotics activities, young people have the opportunity to explore their passions, shape their future careers, and choose suitable university programs and environments," he added.

The competition attracted many students new to Robotics who quickly caught on and made their mark. Chan Long, a member of the Sognatori team from Nguyen Cong Tru High School (Ho Chi Minh City), gained further knowledge of mechanics and electronics through the competition. He and his teammates experienced working on a real-world project with clear processes, deadlines, and the need for professional collaboration.

"I had the chance to explore fields I had only thought about before. This is a valuable opportunity, opening up new directions for the future," Long emphasized.

FARC 2025 is a national technology competition for high school students. Teams progress through rounds of AI programming, robotics, and the final round.

Regarding the motivation behind organizing FARC, a representative from FPT University stated that the university wants to create an environment for students to learn theory and gain practical experience through competitions, projects, internships, and continuous innovation. This helps students develop critical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and adaptability, which are essential for thriving in the age of AI and automation. FARC 2025 also aims to nurture talent, ignite passion for technology, and support the next generation in conquering the digital age.
