Nguyen Thai An, a 12th-grade student from Kim Son A High School, Ninh Binh, is one of eight national top scorers in the A00 exam group (math, physics, chemistry) with perfect 10s in all three subjects.
"My teachers looked up the scores and told my mother. Our whole family has been sharing this joy since this morning. My phone has been flooded with congratulatory messages and calls," An shared.
An assessed this year's math exam as lengthy but "standard." She believed that with a solid grasp of the knowledge, candidates could achieve a 9. She mentioned two challenging probability questions, a topic she had studied but found the question format unfamiliar.
"Leaving the exam room, I thought I might lose a point on those two questions. I was relieved when I saw the answer key," she recounted.
Teacher Dinh Cao Thuong, An's homeroom teacher at Kim Son A High School, Ninh Binh, stated that this was the first time the school had a national top scorer. Thuong anxiously checked scores with his students early this morning, repeatedly refreshing the page to load the data. He was astonished to see three perfect 10s next to An's exam number.
According to Thuong, An consistently led her class academically due to her diligence and self-study skills. She particularly excelled in science and English. Before the high school graduation exam, An achieved an IELTS score of 8.0 and 123/159 on the Hanoi National University's competency assessment test.

An explained that since she decided to pursue pharmacy, she had focused on chemistry since the end of 11th grade, dedicating twice as much time to it compared to math and physics, the other two subjects in the A00 group. At the beginning of 12th grade, she joined the school's gifted student team to solidify her knowledge.
"Thanks to that, I had more exposure to chemistry and became less intimidated by it," An said, adding that she won a consolation prize in the provincial chemistry competition for gifted students.
Her study secret was "practice a lot, make mistakes, and gradually remember." An practiced daily, not setting a target quantity but following her motivation. She addressed errors by noting them in a notebook and reviewing them periodically. A week before the exam, she stopped practicing to focus on reviewing weaker areas.
With her scores, An plans to apply to Hanoi University of Pharmacy, aspiring to become a skilled pharmacist.
