Officials from the Department of Culture, Education, and Sports of Dinh Cong ward, on 29/8, stated that they had submitted a document to the Hanoi Department of Education and Training, including a list of students, requesting the update of their first-grade academic results for the 2024-2025 school year.
"The Department said they would assist the children," a ward representative said.
According to the representative, Dinh Cong ward collaborated with the Department of Education and Training to help parents transfer their children to legally operating schools based on their needs, ensuring the students' rights. Most of the students have been enrolled in new schools.
The issue surfaced in late June when several parents of first graders at Thang Long International Primary School couldn't find their children's grades on eNetViet (an application for checking students' academic results, connected to the education sector's database).
Upon investigation, the families were surprised to discover that the school was not licensed to enroll students, meaning their children had been attending illegally for a whole year. Consequently, the students lacked identification codes and their results weren't updated in the system.
This year, despite still lacking a license, the school enrolled 60 students (25 first graders and 35 sixth graders). After merging with and taking over the school on 1/7, Dinh Cong ward demanded a halt to enrollment and a refund of tuition fees to affected families.
