Vietnamese universities open additional admissions for in-demand programs

Several universities are offering hundreds of additional spots with minimum entry scores generally between 17 and 18 for popular programs like IT, artificial intelligence, semiconductor chips and packaging technology, and semiconductor circuit design.

On 30/8, Ho Chi Minh City University of Education announced 230 additional openings across 7 programs: educational technology, Russian, French, Japanese, Korean, international studies, and information technology. Applications will be accepted from 3/9 to 16/9.

Applicants using high school graduation exam scores must achieve a minimum of 18.25 to apply. The Korean language program has the highest minimum score at 22. Applicants can also apply using specialized competency assessment scores.

The university noted that the standard scores for both methods are calculated based on the primary subject combinations (which vary by program). Other combinations will have a difference of 0.25 to 0.75 points.

For example, the educational technology program requires a high school graduation exam score of 19.25 for the primary combination A01 (math, physics, English). Applicants using combination B08 (math, biology, English) need a minimum score of 18.5.

The University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) is also offering 110 additional spots across 7 programs at its Vinh Long campus. Applicants using high school transcripts must have an average score of at least 6.5 in the three subjects of the relevant combination.

For applicants using high school graduation exam scores, the minimum score for agricultural business, technology and innovation, and robotics and artificial intelligence (engineering) is 18, while for commercial English, taxation, hotel management, and economic law it is 19.

UEH will accept applications until 15/9 and announce results three days later.

In the north, Hanoi University of Industry is offering additional admissions for 10 English-taught programs. Depending on the program, the university will accept applications based on high school transcripts combined with excellent student awards (PT2), high school graduation exam scores (PT3), HSA competency assessment scores (PT4), or TSA thinking assessment scores (PT5). Each program has approximately 10 to 15 additional spots, with minimum scores starting at 18.

Phenikaa University is offering additional admissions for 50 programs, including popular options like artificial intelligence, semiconductor chips and packaging technology, computer science, and electronics and telecommunications engineering (semiconductor circuit design). The university has not announced specific quotas for each program and will accept applications until 2/9.

Applicants can apply using high school transcripts, high school graduation exam scores, HSA competency assessment scores, TSA thinking assessment scores, or VSAT university entrance assessment scores. Minimum scores for each method are as follows:

Thai Nguyen University of Agriculture and Forestry is offering additional admissions for all 25 of its programs, with a minimum high school graduation exam score of 15, the same as the initial admission threshold announced on 23/8. Applications are open until 30/9.

This year, nearly 850,000 students applied for university admission, submitting a total of about 7.6 million applications. On average, each student submitted nearly 9 applications, a significant increase compared to previous years.

Admitted students must confirm their enrollment on the Ministry of Education and Training's system by 2/9. Universities that have not filled their quotas can continue supplementary admissions until December 2025. Students who have confirmed their enrollment cannot participate in supplementary admissions unless granted permission by the university rector.
