The four new public high schools are Hoang Quan Chi (Yen Hoa ward), Vinh Hung (Vinh Hung ward), Viet Hung (Dong Anh commune), and Xuan Khanh (Son Tay ward), according to the Hanoi Department of Education and Training.
The department previously announced two of these institutions; last weekend, Vinh Hung and Xuan Khanh schools reported their progress and enrollment plans.
Among the four schools, Xuan Khanh has been established for many years but recently completed new construction at a different location, which increases its enrollment capacity. The department estimates these four schools will provide 2,400 student places.
Additionally, the capital city will have two new private schools, Tran Hung Dao (Vinh Tuy ward) and Edison (An Khanh commune), with a combined 10th-grade enrollment quota of approximately 800.
This year, Hanoi has 147,000 students completing their lower secondary education program. The public 10th-grade enrollment quota is 88,000, which includes high schools, continuing education centers, and vocational schools.
This exam is considered the most competitive nationwide, with the public high school admission rate hovering around 60-61% annually.
Hanoi has identified building new schools as a key solution to alleviate pressure on the entrance exam. According to the draft master plan for Hanoi Capital, the city anticipates constructing an additional 91 high schools between now and 2045.
