On 20/3, Principal Phan Thi Thanh Thuy of Phuoc Hoa high school, Phuoc Hoa commune, reported that the incident occurred on the afternoon of 18/3 at a private parking lot near the school. Initial information suggests the altercation stemmed from a verbal exchange between the victim, an 11th-grade student, and a group of four 10th-grade students from the same school.
Upon receiving the report, two school teachers arrived at the scene. The 11th-grade student was already injured and bleeding heavily. He was immediately taken to a local clinic before being transferred to Cho Ray hospital. Doctors there diagnosed him with a broken nose, requiring surgery to clear his airway, and he remains under observation for head injuries.
Yesterday afternoon, school representatives and local police met with the students involved and their parents. While the students did not provide a clear reason for the fight, they stated that the victim had hit one of them before the entire group joined the brawl. Principal Thuy added that authorities are currently reviewing security camera footage from surrounding homes to understand the full sequence of events. The police are also awaiting the results of the victim's injury assessment to determine the appropriate course of action.
"Once he recovers and shares more about the incident's cause, the school will establish a disciplinary council and handle it strictly," Principal Thuy said. According to circular 19 from the Ministry of Education and Training, the highest disciplinary action within schools for students who assault peers typically involves a written self-assessment accompanied by a commitment from their family.
