Hanoi to reduce vocational colleges and intermediate schools by nearly half

Hanoi plans to consolidate its 10 colleges and nine intermediate schools, reducing the total to 10 institutions.

This initiative is part of a reorganization plan for vocational education, continuing education, and public universities across the city, announced by the Hanoi People's Committee on 27/7.

Specifically, the 10 colleges and nine intermediate schools will be reorganized as follows:

Additionally, Hanoi is reorganizing 29 vocational and continuing education centers, reducing their number to 14. Once the Ministry of Education and Training provides detailed guidelines on the criteria for establishing vocational high schools, Hanoi plans to convert five of these centers into that model.

Hanoi Metropolitan University will retain its current organizational structure, focusing on training and enhancing human resource quality.

This reorganization effort, undertaken by Hanoi and other provinces and cities, aims to shift from an education management mindset to an education development governance approach. The goal is to establish larger, streamlined, efficient institutions and broaden learning opportunities for residents.
