Hanoi University of Science lowers admission floor for semiconductor technology

Hanoi University of Science (HUS), Vietnam National University, Hanoi, announced on 21/7 two admission score floors: 19 and 20, including for semiconductor technology, which was previously expected to be 24.

These are the total scores of three high school graduation exam subjects, including any bonus points or preferential treatment. For other admission methods, the university applies the same score floors after converting scores to the 30-point scale.

The semiconductor technology program now requires a minimum score of 20, whereas in June, the projected floor was 24, with a math score of at least 8. This was originally the Ministry of Education and Training's standard for universities participating in the "Semiconductor Industry Manpower Development Program to 2030, with a vision to 2050".

HUS this year is admitting more than 2,400 students across 28 programs. Admission methods include the High School Assessment (HSA) test, SAT scores, a combination of high school graduation exam scores and international language certificates, and solely high school graduation exam scores.

Tuition fees for the 2025-2026 academic year range from 16.9 million to 38 million VND, an increase of roughly 1-2 million VND compared to the current academic year, depending on the program.

Last year, HUS's standard admission scores ranged from 20 to 26.25 on the 30-point scale. The highest was for electrical engineering and computer science. This is the total score of three high school graduation exam subjects plus preferential points.

Four programs use a 40-point scale (math score doubled): mathematics, computational mathematics, computer and information science, and data science. In this group, standard admission scores ranged from 24.45 to 35, with data science having the highest.
