On 11/7, HCMUTE announced updates to its 2025 admissions policy, including bonus points for students from specialized, gifted, and prioritized high schools.
Students from 81 specialized and gifted high schools will receive 1 bonus point. Those from 346 prioritized high schools will receive 0.8 points. At the Binh Phuoc campus, all high school students in the province (35 schools) and 213 schools in neighboring provinces will receive a 0.8-point bonus.
HCMUTE uses the combined average score of six high school semesters for three subjects in the chosen combination for academic record evaluations. The main subject's score is doubled and then converted to a 30-point scale using the formula: [(Score 1 x 2 + Score 2 + Score 3) : 4] x 3.
The final admission score is calculated as: Converted academic record score + Bonus points + Priority points.
In addition to the school-based bonus points, applicants with foreign language certificates, national or provincial academic awards will receive an additional 0.5-1.2 points.

This year, HCMUTE aims to enroll over 7,000 students at its Ho Chi Minh City campus and nearly 500 at its Binh Phuoc campus. Besides academic records, the university also offers direct admission according to the Ministry of Education and Training's regulations, prioritized admission based on the university's own programs, admission based on the 2025 high school graduation exam scores, and admission based on the Ho Chi Minh City National University's competency assessment test results.
HCMUTE will accept certificates and supporting documents for priority admission, priority points, and bonus points until 17/7.
Last year, HCMUTE enrolled over 6,000 students. The benchmark scores based on high school graduation exam results ranged from 20.5-27.5/30, with the English Language Teaching program having the highest requirement.
