High school graduation exam math scores ranked across 34 provinces

Students in Ninh Binh achieved an average math score of 5.4, leading the nation, while Son La ranked last with 3.66.

The Ministry of Education and Training released the high school graduation exam scores for approximately 1.16 million students on 16/7.

Ninh Binh led with an average math score of 5.4. Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City followed with average scores of 5.28 and 5.26, respectively. These two localities had the largest number of test-takers nationwide.

Hai Phong secured the 4th spot with an average of 5.1. Bac Ninh dropped three places to 6th.

At the other end of the spectrum, Lang Son, Dien Bien, Cao Bang, and Son La ranked lowest with average math scores below 4. These provinces also held the bottom rankings in last year's math exam results.

Math is one of the two compulsory subjects in the high school graduation exam. This year, although 1.15 million students took the exam, the results significantly declined compared to last year. The average math score dropped from 6.45 to 4.78. The percentage of students scoring 7 or higher was around 12%, compared to 45% last year.

Nationwide, 513 students achieved a perfect score of 10, with Hanoi having the highest number at 93.

The high school graduation exams took place on 26/6 and 27/6. Students following the new general education program (2018) took four exams, with math and literature being compulsory.

Students have 10 days after receiving their scores to submit requests for re-marking, with the deadline being 25/7.

Starting today, students can register, adjust, and supplement their university application choices an unlimited number of times until 5 PM on 28/7. Subsequently, they can submit application fees online from 29/7 to 5 PM on 5/8.

Students can visit the VnExpress University Lookup page to view the fluctuations in benchmark scores over the years by major and university. The system also suggests majors and universities from the previous year with benchmark scores close to the student's achieved scores for each subject combination.

University benchmark scores will be announced before 5 PM on 22/8.
