The exam will continue to be held in 15 provinces and cities, including: TP HCM, Hue, Da Nang, Quang Ngai, Gia Lai, Khanh Hoa, Lam Dong, Dak Lak, Dong Nai, Tay Ninh, Dong Thap, Vinh Long, An Giang, Can Tho, and Ca Mau.
A representative from the Center for Testing and Quality Assurance stated that they will coordinate closely with participating units to organize the exam. They aim to enhance communication, guidance, and supervision to ensure compliance with regulations and procedures, minimizing errors.
The Ho Chi Minh City National University 2026 competency assessment exam format remains stable to ensure consistency, continuity, and comparability of results across years. The exam consists of 120 multiple-choice questions. Candidates complete the paper-based test in 150 minutes. Each question carries a different weight, depending on its difficulty.
The logic, data analysis, and problem-solving section comprises 30 questions. These questions are designed to provide information, data, and facts, requiring candidates to apply them to determine experimental results and predict patterns.
The language use section, covering Vietnamese and English, has 60 questions. Finally, the mathematics section contains 30 questions.

The Ho Chi Minh City National University's 2025 competency assessment exam attracted approximately 152,800 candidates, with over 223,000 test entries. The results were used by more than 110 schools for admission.
Ho Chi Minh City National University noted that the overall score distribution for both exam sessions was nearly normal, indicating the exam's effectiveness in differentiating candidates. The average score was 662,78. The top scorer achieved 1,122 out of 1,200 points. The lowest score recorded was 120 points.
