Ho Chi Minh City's 10th Grade Admission Scores to Be Released on June 26

Admission scores for 109 public high schools in Ho Chi Minh City will be announced by the Department of Education and Training on the evening of 26/6.

Ho Tan Minh, Chief of Office for the Department, shared this information on the afternoon of 25/6. Today is the deadline for specialized program students to confirm their enrollment. Afterward, the Department will finalize the system and move on to the general 10th-grade admissions process.

The admission score is calculated from the combined scores of Literature, Math, and Foreign Language exams, plus any preferential points. Students must take all three exams, adhere to exam regulations, and not receive a failing grade (0).

Student preferences will be considered in order. Based on each school's quota, the Department will review applications from highest to lowest score until all places are filled. The standard is that the admission score for subsequent choices cannot be lower than the preceding ones.

Two days ago, the Department released the exam scores of over 76,000 students and the admission scores for specialized 10th-grade programs.

Many teachers predict intense competition for top schools, with admission scores potentially increasing by 0.5-1.5 points. Mid-tier schools might maintain or see slightly higher admission scores due to improved Math scores, while Literature scores remain similar to last year.

This year, approximately 76,400 students took the 10th-grade exam in Ho Chi Minh City, down from over 98,000 last year. Public schools offer 70,000 places, resulting in a record-high passing rate of 91%.

Among the 109 schools, Tran Dai Nghia Secondary and High School has the highest applicant-to-acceptance ratio (1/2.9), with one out of every three applicants being admitted. Conversely, over 40 schools have a competition ratio below 1, meaning the number of applicants is less than the available spots.

In recent years, Nguyen Thuong Hien High School has consistently had the highest admission scores, at 24 points or above. Other familiar names in the top 10 typically require scores above 22 points, including Nguyen Huu Huan, Gia Dinh, Nguyen Thi Minh Khai, Phu Nhuan, Mac Dinh Chi, Le Quy Don, and Nguyen Huu Cau high schools.

The lowest scores in the city are found in the outlying districts of Can Gio and Binh Chanh, where many schools remain at 10.5 points.
