Dr. Nguyen Trung Nhan, Head of the Training Department at IUH, made this prediction on 5/8. He reported that the university received approximately 160,000 applications this year, double the number from last year. The number of applicants using international language certificates to convert into English scores also increased from 3,000 to 8,000, with the majority achieving 5.0 or higher on the IELTS.
Dr. Nhan attributed this increase to the discontinuation of early admissions this year, leading applicants to submit more applications to improve their chances. Additionally, the low English scores on the high school graduation exam prompted many students to use international language certificates for admission consideration.

Based on the available data, Dr. Nhan anticipates that admission scores for Law and popular technology programs like Computer Engineering, Automotive Engineering, and Mechatronics may remain unchanged or increase slightly. The admission scores for other programs are expected to decrease by 0.5 to 1 point due to lower high school graduation exam scores in several subjects compared to last year.
For admission methods using the Ho Chi Minh City National University's Competency Assessment scores and academic transcripts, admission scores are likely to increase. Based on the score distribution, Dr. Nhan assesses that this year's results are higher than in previous years. Approximately 40% of the nearly 153,000 test takers achieved a good score – 700 out of 1,200 points or higher.
"Programs with admission scores between 700 and 850 last year will likely see an increase of a few dozen points this year due to higher competition in this score range," he stated.
Admission scores based on academic transcripts are expected to follow a similar trend, as the university has eliminated direct admission preferences for students from specialized high schools and instead implemented a bonus point system of 1 to 3 points.
Previously, IUH announced minimum application scores (floor scores) ranging from 16 to 19 based on the three-subject combination from the high school graduation exam, a 1-point decrease for all programs compared to last year.
For applicants using Ho Chi Minh City National University’s Competency Assessment scores, the floor score is 650/1,200 for regular programs and 600/1,200 for English-enhanced programs. For Law programs, the floor score is 720, with Vietnamese and Math component scores of 180 or higher. Applicants using academic transcripts must achieve a total score of 21 or higher across three subjects.
For the Quang Ngai campus, the floor scores for the two methods mentioned above are 600 and 19, respectively.
Last year, IUH's admission scores ranged from 18 to 26 based on high school graduation exam results. International Business and Economic Law had the highest entry requirements.
