Control and automation engineering technology surpasses English language pedagogy to lead Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Education admission scores with 26,83 points.

Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Education (HCMUTE) announced its admission scores on the evening of 9/8. These are composite scores calculated on a 30-point scale for the 2026 academic year.

The control and automation engineering technology major emerged as the top program, requiring 26,83 points. This marks a shift from previous years, where English language pedagogy consistently held the leading position.

Out of 61 majors and programs, 43 set admission scores at 22,5 or higher, indicating that candidates needed an average of 7,5 points per subject to pass. Beyond control and automation engineering technology, mechatronics engineering technology and microchip design engineering also required over 26 points for admission.

Conversely, the lowest admission score, at 18 points, was for several programs: international business, e-commerce (taught in English), restaurant and catering management, and environment and sustainable development (standard program).

For the current academic year, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Education plans to admit almost 8.000 students. Admissions are primarily conducted through a combined method on a 30-point scale, defined by the following formula: Admission score = academic achievement score + bonus score + priority score.

For the academic achievement score, candidates have the flexibility to use their high school graduation exam scores, or a combination of these scores with academic transcripts and competency assessment results, opting for the most advantageous method. However, for architecture, interior architecture, fashion design, and graphic design majors, the academic achievement score is combined with aptitude test results. A maximum bonus score of 3/30 is awarded to students who have achieved provincial or national awards, Olympic medals, international science and technology awards, or vocational skill competition recognition.

Last year, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Education admitted over 7.000 students. Admission scores ranged from 21,1 to 29,57, with English language pedagogy recording the highest score.
