Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade (HUIT) has announced a generous 30 million VND Tet bonus for each of its 850 staff members, from rectors to janitors, for the upcoming Tet Binh Ngo 2026. This announcement, made on 18/12, positions HUIT as one of the first universities in Vietnam to detail its holiday bonus for the year.
Associate Professor, Doctor Nguyen Xuan Hoan, the rector, confirmed this year's bonus is two million VND higher than last year. This marks the 10th consecutive year the university has applied a uniform bonus policy across all positions. "While salaries vary based on position and responsibilities throughout the year, the university decided on a common Tet bonus to ensure everyone feels appreciated, as general spending needs are similar," he explained.
The total bonus of 30 million VND will be distributed in two installments: 27 million VND before the Tet holiday and an additional three million VND as lucky money on the first day back to work.
The estimated total expenditure for these bonuses is 25 billion VND. Staff members will enjoy a 28-day holiday period, from 9/2/2026 to 8/3/2026, which spans from the 22nd of the 12th lunar month to the 21st of the 1st lunar month.
HUIT's early announcement sets a precedent, being the first university in the southern region to publicly disclose its Tet bonus details.

Under Decree 60 (2021) issued by the Government, universities manage their annual financial outcomes by allocating funds into four categories: Operational Development (with a minimum of 25%), Income Supplement, Rewards and Welfare, and Other Funds.
Institutions that are fully or partially self-funded for recurrent expenditures are permitted to allocate 1,5-3 months' worth of salaries and wages from their Rewards and Welfare fund. This allocation is typically disbursed at the end of the year and is commonly known as a "Tet bonus."
