Ministry of national defense to hold first-ever competency assessment exam

The ministry of national defense's computer-based competency assessment exam (QDA), set for june, will feature a structure similar to hanoi national university's hsa exam.

The military admissions board, ministry of national defense, announced on 4/2 that exam scores will be used for admission to military schools. three test locations include the military technical academy in hanoi, signal officer college in khanh hoa, and army officer college 2 in dong nai. the exam is scheduled for the third week of june, following the high school graduation exam.

The military admissions board, in coordination with the institute of digital education and testing at hanoi national university, developed the exam. its purpose is to assess the core competencies of high school students.

The exam's structure mirrors that of hanoi national university's competency assessment exam (HSA). it comprises three parts: mathematics and data processing/quantitative reasoning, literature - language/qualitative reasoning, and science or english. the total score is 150, with each part worth 50 points. candidates will receive their scores immediately after completing the test.

The ministry of national defense's competency assessment exam details, including test duration and number of questions per section, are as follows:

In addition to the QDA competency assessment exam scores, 20 military schools in 2025 will continue to use other admission methods, including: direct admission, high school graduation exam scores, and competency assessment scores from hanoi national university and ho chi minh city national university.

Candidates applying to military schools must participate in local preliminary screening.
