ISHCMC students achieve outstanding IBDP results, securing places at global universities

The International School Ho Chi Minh City (ISHCMC) announced that 98% of its students qualified for the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma, achieving an average score of 34 in the 2025 academic year.

This figure is significantly higher than the global average of 30.5. 109 ISHCMC students sat for the IB exams this year. Almost half (44%) scored 35 points or higher, and 83% achieved scores above 30. Six students achieved 40 points or higher, a benchmark considered very high within the IB system. This achievement reflects the effectiveness of the curriculum and the close support from the teaching staff, while also showcasing the students' dedication to their personalized learning journeys.

Beyond academic results, 53% of this year's graduates received the IB Bilingual Diploma, surpassing the global average of 23%. This demonstrates the multicultural and multilingual learning environment at ISHCMC, which fosters adaptability and global thinking among students.

"These results are more than just numbers," said Head of School Marco Longmore. "These positive outcomes are a testament to determination and creativity. Our students are developing curiosity and adaptability, equipping them well for all their future endeavors."

Many of this year's graduates began their educational journey at ISHCMC from kindergarten, progressing through the Primary Years Programme (PYP), Middle Years Programme (MYP), and culminating in the IB Diploma Programme (IBDP). This seamless pathway allows students to develop critical thinking, confidence, and compassion.

ISHCMC students also participate in various personal development activities. The Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS) projects and Theory of Knowledge (TOK) essays are integral parts of the IB program, encouraging students to broaden their perspectives, propose solutions, and contribute to the community. Several CAS projects have made a tangible social impact in Ho Chi Minh City and surrounding areas, ranging from raising awareness about mental health and environmental protection to supporting underprivileged groups.

In addition, teachers and IB coordinators play a crucial role in guiding students' holistic development. The school cultivates a learning environment where critical thinking and a spirit of inquiry are encouraged, empowering students to pursue their passions and realize their personal goals.

This year, ISHCMC students received over 56 million USD in scholarships and financial aid from prestigious universities worldwide, including the University of California, Imperial College London, the University of Toronto, and Seoul National University. The students are expected to pursue their studies in the US, UK, Canada, Australia, and South Korea.

A school representative added that ISHCMC will continue to enhance student well-being initiatives, invest in modern facilities, and expand collaborations with global organizations. The goal is to prepare each student for the changing world, enabling them to become global citizens with flexible thinking, a sense of responsibility, and the ability to shape the future.

ISHCMC is one of the first international schools in Ho Chi Minh City to offer all three levels of the IB program, accredited by the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO). The school aims to develop a comprehensive learning community that emphasizes the connection between knowledge and practice, and between the individual and the community.
