Lecturers earning doctorates awarded 180 million dong

Four lecturers completing doctoral programs awarded 720 million dong by HCMC University of Law, aiming to increase the proportion of doctorates.

On 3/7, HCMC University of Law honored and rewarded four new doctors. These individuals completed their doctoral programs in Law, Finance - Banking, and Administration at the university or other institutions.

According to the university's policy, current lecturers or new staff receive a bonus of 180 million dong upon obtaining a doctoral degree. For associate professors and professors, the corresponding bonuses are 360 million dong and 500 million dong.

Doctor Le Truong Son, the Rector, stated this initiative demonstrates HCMC University of Law's long-term commitment and investment in its faculty. He emphasized that promoting the proportion of lecturers with doctoral degrees not only meets Ministry of Education and Training regulations but also enhances the university's competitiveness and academic standing.

Currently, HCMC University of Law has 397 lecturers, with 165 holding doctoral degrees or higher, representing 42%. Another 51 lecturers are doctoral candidates.

Higher education institution standards mandate that universities must have 40% of their lecturers holding doctoral degrees, prompting many institutions to attract personnel or boost training efforts, requiring lecturers to achieve this academic degree.

However, HCMC University of Law's bonus for lecturers pursuing doctorates is uncommon. Most universities offer support to attract new personnel who already possess these degrees or meet the standards for professor or associate professor.

In March, HCMC University of Economics announced bonuses of 150-500 million dong to attract doctors, associate professors, and professors, or maximum support of 150 million dong for existing staff who proactively upgrade their academic ranks or degrees. Saigon University also has a similar policy, offering 100-300 million dong.

A series of other universities, such as Industry and Trade University, HCMC University of Industry, University of Finance - Marketing, and University of Economics and Law, offer bonuses of 150-500 million dong for personnel who meet associate professor or professor standards.
