Dr. Nguyen Quoc Chinh, director of the Testing and Educational Quality Assessment Center at the National University of Ho Chi Minh City, announced the make-up exam on the afternoon of 2/7.
The affected students can choose to take the third exam or decline. Registration is open until July 5th. If they choose to participate in the third exam, their second exam results will be voided.
"The make-up exam is scheduled for the afternoon of July 13th at the National University of Ho Chi Minh City urban area. Results will be released two days later, allowing students to use them for university and college admissions," Dr. Chinh said.
He added that organizing the make-up exam is not complicated since the question bank and testing procedures are already in place. The university is mobilizing resources for this smaller group of students to ensure their rights are protected.
The errors occurred during the second round of testing a month ago when proctors in two exam rooms at the Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH) made mistakes that affected 74 students.
In room P.42, the proctor failed to start the exam on time, though the clock was running. The proctors claimed they misunderstood the signal bells, resulting in a delay of less than 20 minutes, but students reported a loss of around 30 minutes.
In room P.39, the proctor failed to distribute scratch paper to 45 students. Some students reported this hindered their performance.
At the time, the National University of Ho Chi Minh City stated there was no basis for awarding extra points or a re-test. They only offered an apology, encouragement, and material or emotional support to mitigate the impact on the affected students.
HUTECH representatives stated that three proctors involved in the incident in room P.42 received disciplinary warnings and salary reductions.
Previously, during the first round of testing in March, a proctor at An Giang University distributed exam papers 10 minutes late to 4 students. Those students received an apology and were given free admission to the second round of testing (a value of 300,000 VND).
