Ministry of education sets minimum admission score for pedagogy at 18-19

The minimum admission score for pedagogy programs at the university level this year is 18-19 for the three-subject combination, similar to last year.

According to the Ministry of Education and Training's announcement on the morning of 22/7, physical education, sports training, music pedagogy, and fine arts pedagogy programs require a minimum score of 18 for the three-subject combination. Other pedagogy programs have a minimum score of 19.

The admission threshold for preschool education at the college level is 16.5, 0.5 points lower than last year. This score includes bonus points and is not multiplied by any coefficient, similar to last year.

Teacher training institutions using high school graduation exam scores for admission are not allowed to set admission scores lower than these minimums.

Since 2018, the Ministry of Education and Training has set specific minimum entry requirements for pedagogy programs to ensure the quality of students in these fields, avoiding situations where some schools accepted only 3 points per subject as in previous periods.

Candidates can adjust and supplement their university application choices an unlimited number of times until 5 PM on 28/7, based on the minimum scores, admission scores of recent years, and the programs they have registered for.

Candidates can visit VnExpress's University Search page to view admission information such as subject combinations, tuition fees, and fluctuations in admission scores over the years by program and institution. The system also suggests programs and institutions whose admission scores last year were close to the candidate's current scores for each subject combination.

Candidates can submit their application fees online from 29/7 to 5 PM on 5/8. Universities will announce their admission scores before 5 PM on 22/8.

As of the end of the first semester of this academic year, the country had over 1.26 million teachers from preschool to grade 12. According to the staffing norms, there is still a shortage of approximately 120,000 teachers.

During the period from 2022 to 2026, the education sector was assigned to recruit nearly 66,000 additional staff. Combined with approximately 43,000 previously unused positions, the total is almost 109,000. However, by the end of last year, localities had only recruited about 50,000. One of the reasons is the lack of qualified candidates.
