On the morning of 1/7, the Ministry of Education and Training announced the high school graduation exam scores for over 1,2 million candidates and the score distribution for each subject.

More than 334,500 candidates took the English exam. This year's score distribution skewed significantly to the left (below average) compared to last year. The average score was 5,07, a slight decrease from 5,38 the previous year.
A total of 50,23% of candidates scored below average, the highest percentage among all subjects in the 2026 high school graduation exam, marking a 12% increase from the previous year. The number of candidates with failing grades (less than or equal to one) in this subject also rose, from 28 to 61. The most frequently achieved score was 4,25, which is one point lower than last year. Conversely, the number of candidates achieving perfect scores increased, from 141 to 311 students.
Ha Noi achieved the best average score in the high school graduation English exam, with 5,5 points, and also recorded the highest number of perfect 10s, with 118 students. Tuyen Quang followed with an average of 5,4, and TP HCM with 5,37.
The high school graduation exam took place on 11-12/6, involving approximately 1,2 million candidates, a record high. After receiving their scores, candidates have five days to register for a review if desired, with the deadline set for 5/7.
Starting from 2/7, students can begin registering and adjusting their university and college admission applications through the Ministry's system. This period extends until 5 p.m. on 14/7. University admission benchmarks and the results of successful or unsuccessful applications will be announced after 5 p.m. on 9/8.
