Over 300,000 candidates forgo university entrance exams

Around 311,000 out of over 1.16 million candidates did not register their applications on the Ministry of Education and Training's system, a decrease compared to last year.

As of the evening of 28/7, the Ministry reported nearly 850,000 candidates had submitted applications, an increase of over 115,000 compared to last year. This increase is attributed to candidates being able to apply to both universities and colleges this year.

A total of approximately 7.6 million applications were received, with an average of nearly 9 applications per candidate. Last year, the Ministry did not release this data.

This means about 311,000 candidates, representing 26.8% of the total 1.16 million, did not pursue university admission. This is a decrease of about 5% compared to 2024.

From 29/7 to 5 pm on 5/8, candidates must pay the application fee, corresponding to the number of applications submitted. Universities will conduct virtual screening and admissions from 13/8 to 20/8, and announce benchmarks before 5 pm on 22/8.

Successful candidates must confirm their enrollment on the system before 5 pm on 30/8. Skipping this step implies declining admission.

Universities with unfilled quotas can conduct supplementary admissions from 1/9 to December 2025.
