Nguyen Tien Manh, a parent of a student in class 1A3, said he discovered the issue in late June when he couldn't find his child's grades on eNetViet (an app connected to the education database). When he inquired with the school, he was told that "the Department of Education and Training hadn't opened the system for updates."
"I investigated and found out the school didn't have an enrollment quota for the 2024-2025 school year," Manh said.
Tran Van Hien, whose child was in class 1A2, learned about the situation when other parents mentioned they couldn't transfer their children to different schools. He said he had previously questioned the absence of his child's grades on the system, but the school told him to "not worry."
According to the parents, the school's first grade had 3 classes, from A1 to A3, each with about 20-25 students. The children completed the school year and received printed report cards, but no data appeared on the eNetViet software.

The parents met with school representatives on 30/7. The school admitted it couldn't upload the first-grade students' academic results to the Department's system. More than 10 parents filed a petition with the Hanoi People's Committee, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training, and the Dinh Cong ward People's Committee.
"Many of us, including myself, have decided to transfer our children to other schools," Hien said.
Thang Long International Primary School, part of the Bill Gates Schools education system, was established in 2010. The school is located in the former Hoang Mai district, now part of Dinh Cong ward.
On the afternoon of 16/8, officials from the former Hoang Mai district confirmed the school wasn't allocated an enrollment quota for the 2024-2025 school year due to a dispute. Despite being warned, the school still enrolled students. Dinh Cong ward representatives said the school won't be allowed to enroll students next year either.
An official from the Department of Education and Training confirmed that the Thang Long International Primary School students' grades aren't in the system. After receiving the parents' petition, the Department will cooperate with the ward to conduct an inspection and address the issue, then upload the grades to ensure the students' rights.
