Approximately 1.2 million students, a record high, are participating in the 2026 high school graduation exam, which concludes today, 12/6. Following yesterday's math and literature papers, where participation rates reached 99.4-99.5% of total registrations, students are now taking their final two chosen subjects. This morning, candidates will complete two exams from nine options: physics, chemistry, biology, history, geography, english, informatics, technology, and economic and legal education.
History is the most popular choice, attracting over 570,000 students, followed by geography (nearly 449,000), physics (390,000), and foreign languages (over 347,000). Informatics and industrial technology saw the most significant increases in registration compared to last year, rising 2.4-3 times to 18,700 and over 7,400 students respectively.
In Hanoi, rain fell in some areas early on 12/6, stopping around 6h. With temperatures around 26 degrees Celsius, volunteers provided umbrellas and assistance to students entering the exam centers.

Around 6h30, Nguyen Hoang Long, a student from THPT Cao Ba Quat school in Gia Lam commune, was driven by his father to THCS Trau Quy school, over 5 km from home. Feeling "quite satisfied" with his literature and math performance yesterday, Long confidently approached his final exam session, taking english and history. He plans to use his literature, math, and english scores (D01 combination) to apply for an English language major, aiming for 22 points or higher. English is Long's strong subject, especially sentence completion tasks. He expressed concern only about synonym and antonym vocabulary questions in the reading comprehension section. 'I hope the new vocabulary doesn't fall into the C2 level,' Long said. For history, he noted that he only needs it for graduation eligibility, so he did not study extensively. Long feels more confident in Vietnamese history than world history, hoping to score "as many points as possible" in that section.
In TP HCM, after yesterday's rain shower, the weather today is dry with light sunshine. At the THCS Tran Van On exam center, Thuy Tran, a student from THPT Bui Thi Xuan school, is taking english and physics. English is her strong subject, and Tran hopes to achieve a score of 9 to gain an advantage when using her A01 combination scores (math, physics, english) for university applications. 'I performed quite well in math yesterday, likely scoring 8-9, so I will try my best in the physics and english exams,' the student stated.
Before the exam, Minister Hoang Minh Son stated that the 2026 high school graduation exam papers would closely align with the competencies and knowledge outlined in the general education curriculum, ensuring a balanced difficulty across subjects. The results for the 2026 high school graduation exam will be announced on the morning of 1/7. According to the 2026 admissions regulations, regardless of the university admission method, candidates must achieve a total graduation exam score of 15 or higher for three subjects in their chosen combination.
