Two medical students swear on livestream at hospital, face disciplinary action

Two fourth-year medical students from Hanoi University of Business and Technology will face disciplinary action for swearing and using inappropriate language during a livestream at a hospital reception desk while on their internship.

Hanoi University of Business and Technology announced disciplinary action on the morning of 27/7, following the widespread circulation of a video on social media. The video depicted two young women, dressed in medical attire, sitting at the reception desk of Duc Giang General Hospital and livestreaming on TikTok.

During the livestream, the two individuals pointed directly at the screen, swore, and threatened to "inject poison" into someone interacting with them.

The video quickly spread across multiple social media platforms. Reposted content garnered thousands of interactions, comments, and shares. Many viewers expressed outrage and concern, believing the young women were medical staff exhibiting unprofessional behavior and speech within a hospital setting.

Duc Giang General Hospital immediately issued a statement clarifying that the two individuals in the video were not hospital officials or staff, but rather two medical students on internship. The hospital promptly worked with their training institution, terminated their internship, and handed them over to the university for disciplinary action in accordance with regulations.

Associate Professor, Doctor Pham Duong Chau, Vice Rector in charge of Hanoi University of Business and Technology, affirmed that the students' inappropriate statements were wrong.

"The university not only teaches professional skills but also ethics and character, because doctors are like kind mothers," Chau stated. "Students who make inappropriate statements must take responsibility for their actions."

Currently, Hanoi University of Business and Technology has suspended the students and requested written explanations. According to a media representative, the university will review the incident, convene a disciplinary council meeting, and will also work directly with Duc Giang General Hospital as early as tomorrow to handle the matter strictly and definitively.

The university did not provide information regarding the academic performance of the two students.

Hanoi University of Business and Technology has offered medical training since 2016. The admission score for this program at the university typically matches the general minimum threshold set by the Ministry of Education and Training, which was 20,5 last year for the combination of three high school graduation exam subjects.

The current tuition fee for the medical program at Hanoi University of Business and Technology is 66,28 million VND per year.
