On the afternoon of 29/7, Bui Hong Minh, Deputy Director of Quang Ninh Department of Construction, announced that the province has arranged 30 buses to operate on 66 routes with 139 stops, serving students at 22 schools.
To date, approximately 3,000 students have registered for the service. If demand increases, the province will allocate resources to add more vehicles, up to a maximum of 100 buses.
All buses used for student transportation are new, equipped with modern technology for management. This includes attendance tracking via recognition devices at the bus doors, mobile phones, or student cards. This data is linked to an application for real-time information sharing with parents and schools.
Each bus is also fitted with a camera recognition system and a confirmation button at the rear of the passenger compartment to prevent students from being forgotten. After students disembark, the driver and attendant must check the entire passenger compartment before pressing the confirmation button.
The estimated cost per bus is 100 million VND per month, with implementation starting from the 2026-2027 academic year. Following a pilot period, the province will review and assess its long-term application. Authorities will subsidize 70% of the loan interest for vehicle purchases to encourage businesses to participate.
