Textbook sets see price reduction of about 33,000-50,000 VND each

Textbook prices for grades one to 12 for the 2026-2027 academic year will range from approximately 155,000 to 300,000 VND, representing a decrease of 33,000-50,000 VND compared to last year.

According to an announcement by Giao duc Vietnam Publishing House in late May, the price of each book in the common textbook series "Ket noi tri thuc voi cuoc song" saw a slight reduction. The overall price decrease for the set is largely due to the reduced price of English textbooks.

For example, the grade one textbook set, which cost 189,900 VND last academic year, is priced at 157,000 VND this year. Specifically, the English textbook alone decreased from 42,000 VND to 20,500 VND.

For high school, the price of the entire set is not fixed, as it depends on the four subjects and three specialized topics students choose. Based on an estimate, the textbook price for this educational level also decreased by approximately 50,000 VND.

Giao duc Vietnam Publishing House stated that the textbook price reduction is a result of optimizing production and distribution costs.

For the 2026-2027 academic year, the entire country will return to using a single common set of textbooks, following five years of implementing one curriculum with multiple textbook series.

The "Ket noi tri thuc voi cuoc song" series from Giao duc Vietnam Publishing House was chosen because it fully met the requirements and was considered "most outstanding," according to the Ministry of Education and Training. Authorities also noted that its potential for revision and readiness for implementation was the highest.

Additionally, the Ministry anticipates that students nationwide will receive free textbooks starting from the 2029-2030 academic year. This will be through a lending system from school libraries, requiring students to return the books after use and compensate for any damage.
