Thang Long university lowers admission floor

Thang Long university is accepting applications with high school graduation exam scores from 16 to 18, a decrease of 3-4 points compared to last year.

According to the university's announcement on the evening of 22/7, the admission floor for applicants using high school graduation exam scores is set at three levels: 16, 17, and 18. This applies to all majors except vocal music and graphic design. Last year, the floor was 19-22.

The highest floor is for economic law at 18 points. For this major, if the exam combination includes only math or literature, the score in that subject must be at least 6. If the combination includes both, the combined score of math and literature must be 12 or higher.

The nursing major has a floor of 17, while all other majors require a minimum of 16.

These scores represent the total of three subjects in the exam combination, including any bonus points for region or special circumstances (for majors where all subjects have a coefficient of 1). For combinations where math or English has a coefficient of 2 and other subjects have a coefficient of 1, the admission score is calculated on a scale of 30 using the following formula:

Admission score = (subject 1 score + subject 2 score + math/English score * 2) * 3/4 + bonus points

For applicants using both the 2025 high school graduation exam and international language certificates, in addition to achieving a minimum score of IELTS 5, TOEFL iBT 45, HSK level 4, HSKK 60, JLPT N3, or TOPIK II level 3, candidates must meet the total admission score requirements as in the first method.

The conversion table for language certificates to a 10-point scale is as follows:

For applicants using competency assessment and aptitude test scores, the minimum scores are as follows:

: Hanoi National University's competency assessment test (HSA) requires a minimum score of 75/150.

: Hanoi University of Education's competency assessment test (SPT) requires a minimum score of 15/30.

: Hanoi University of Science and Technology's aptitude test (TSA) requires a minimum score of 50/100.

These scores do not apply to the vocal music, graphic design, or nursing majors.

Applicants can also use high school transcripts for admission to the nursing program. Requirements include good conduct, satisfactory academic performance throughout 12th grade, or a high school graduation exam score of at least 6.5. Additionally, the average score for grades 10, 11, and 12 in the three subjects of the exam combination must be at least 19.5/30, with no subject below 5.

For vocal music and graphic design, applicants can use high school transcripts combined with aptitude test scores. Requirements include good conduct in 12th grade and an average score of at least 5 in literature and math for the three years of high school.

For vocal music, applicants need a score of at least 8 in the first aptitude test (singing) and at least 5 in the second test (ear training and rhythm). Applicants for graphic design must score at least 5 in the aptitude test.

Direct admission is available for two groups.

For vocal music and graphic design, direct admission is granted to applicants with official awards in international arts competitions (singing, dancing, music, fine arts) recognized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism. The awards must have been received within the past four years.

For other majors, direct admission is offered to applicants with awards from third prize or higher in national or international student competitions in academics or science and technology organized or endorsed by the Ministry of Education and Training. The awards must have been received within the past three years.

In 2025, Thang Long university plans to enroll 3,000 students, an increase of 200 compared to last year. Tuition is expected to range from 33.6 to 48.9 million VND per year.

Last year's admission scores ranged from 19 to 26.52, with the highest for multimedia communications, followed by economic law. Nursing had the lowest admission score.

Currently, applicants can register, adjust, and supplement their university application choices an unlimited number of times until 5 PM on 28/7. They can then pay the application fee online from 29/7 to 5 PM on 5/8.

Applicants can visit VnExpress's university search page to see the fluctuations in admission scores over the years by major and university. The system also suggests majors and universities with admission scores close to the applicant's scores in each exam combination.

University admission scores will be announced before 5 PM on 22/8.
