The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training announced on the afternoon of 11/6 that three students taking the literature exam at Ly Thuong Kiet Secondary School in Binh Tri Dong Ward were affected by blurred exam papers. The students were compensated with equivalent extra time after a 3-5 minute delay in retrieving backup exam materials.
According to department leaders, students reported the blurred printing immediately upon receiving their papers. The exam center promptly opened backup exam papers as per regulations. However, due to the distance from the exam room to the backup storage, retrieving the new papers took 3-5 minutes. Consequently, the Exam Proctoring Council instructed that the three affected students be granted additional time equivalent to the delay.
High school graduation exam regulations mandate that students fully record their exam number and personal information on the exam paper, answer sheet, multiple-choice answer sheet, and scratch paper. Upon receiving the exam paper, students are required to carefully inspect the number of pages, the quality of the printing, and the exam code on each page. If any deficiencies are found, such as missing pages, tears, damage, or blurriness, students must immediately inform the proctor. This notification must occur no later than 5 minutes from the start of the exam. Failure to do so means students will be held responsible for the exam paper they received.
Each exam center is equipped with original exam papers for verification if necessary. The Ministry consistently advises students to meticulously check their exam papers as soon as they receive them. This practice is both a responsibility and a right for students, ensuring that their exam results are not adversely affected by technical errors.
Ho Chi Minh City hosts the nation's largest high school graduation exam, involving over 143,000 students. For the literature exam session, over 138,300 students participated, with 505 absent. Nationwide, approximately 5,300 students did not take the exam, and 12 students were suspended for bringing unauthorized phones and materials.
Students are scheduled to take the 90-minute multiple-choice mathematics exam this afternoon. On the morning of 12/6, they will sit for two elective subjects. The high school graduation exam results for 2026 are slated for release on 1/7.
