Nguyen Quang Anh, a former student of class 9A4 at Cau Giay Secondary School, achieved impressive scores in Hanoi's 10th-grade entrance exams. According to the Hanoi Department of Education and Training's announcement on 4/7, he scored 9.75 in math, 10 in English, and 9 in literature.
With a total score of 28.75, Quang Anh became one of eight top-scoring students in Hanoi's non-specialized high school entrance exam. He also gained admission to the specialized chemistry and math programs at Hanoi - Amsterdam High School (Ams) and the specialized program at Hanoi National University of Education High School. Additionally, he was accepted into the specialized literature program at the High School for the Gifted in Social Sciences and Humanities (under the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi).
Quang Anh plans to attend Ams but hasn't decided between specializing in chemistry or mathematics.

Quang Anh shared his approach to studying, emphasizing self-learning and setting clear goals. He devoted extra time to math and chemistry, aligning with his intended future pursuits. Beyond his regular schoolwork, he sought supplementary materials online and from peers to broaden his knowledge and practice various problem-solving techniques.
To excel in literature, Quang Anh believes consistent writing practice is key. Having his mother as a literature teacher provided valuable feedback and support, motivating him to achieve a high score as a tribute to her.
Another key to balancing multiple goals, according to Quang Anh, is focus. He strives to absorb and understand classroom instruction thoroughly. He also maintains a consistent study schedule, breaking down complex topics into smaller, manageable parts for easier review and memorization.
This approach helped him navigate the exams with ease. He noted the novelty of this year's exams compared to previous years. The math exam, for instance, included practical, real-world applications such as calculating discounts and measuring water usage.
Thieu Quang Tung, Quang Anh's homeroom teacher in class 9A4 at Cau Giay Secondary School, expressed surprise at his top score in the general entrance exam and his acceptance into the specialized literature program, while his success in math and chemistry was expected.
"Quang Anh excels in all subjects. His academic performance has consistently ranked among the top in his class and even the entire school," Tung said. He also described Quang Anh as sociable and outgoing, contrary to the stereotypical image of a bookish top student.
Looking ahead to his three years at Hanoi - Amsterdam High School, Quang Anh aims to become more proactive while maintaining a balance between academics and extracurricular activities.
