Zeng Zichong and Zeng Ziyi, twins from Xuejun High School in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province, surprised everyone by achieving the same score of 666 out of 750 on the gaokao, China's national college entrance exam.
Considered one of the world’s most competitive exams, the gaokao tests students in English, Chinese, math, a science subject (biology, physics, or chemistry), and a humanities subject (history, geography, or politics).
"We couldn't believe it at first. We checked several times to make sure we both really got 666," the twins said.
Their identical scores earned them both places in the Engineering and Computer Science program, specializing in Experimental Engineering, at Xi'an Jiaotong University, a prestigious university in northern China.
"This incredible synchronicity is a testament to their hard work. We look forward to seeing them pursue their dreams and shine even brighter together," Xi'an Jiaotong University posted on Weibo on 25/7.

According to their family, Zichong and Ziyi share not only identical looks but also similar personalities, having studied together from kindergarten onwards.
"My name means 'bird soaring to the sky,' while my brother's means 'mutual support and assistance,’" Zichong explained, adding that their parents hoped they would always support each other.
Throughout middle school, they maintained similar academic performance and both were admitted to Xuejun High School. Zichong excelled in Chinese and English, while Ziyi shone in math and physics. By regularly exchanging ideas and supporting each other, they both achieved excellent academic results.
They also share hobbies like playing video games, watching movies, and frequenting the library. Their shared passion for computer science and artificial intelligence led them to apply for the same program at Xi'an Jiaotong University.
"I really like the university's long-standing academic environment," Zichong said. Ziyi added that he was drawn to the ancient culture of Xi'an.
While acknowledging that many paths lie ahead, they expressed their desire to continue their journey together.
"We hope to study and work in the same city in the future," Zichong and Ziyi shared.
