Two Hanoi universities renamed

Hanoi Prosecution University and Hanoi Industrial Textile University have been renamed, according to a decision signed by Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long on 4/7.

Hanoi Prosecution University will become Prosecution University. Hanoi Industrial Textile University will become Hanoi University of Industry and Commerce. Both are headquartered in the capital.

The Ministry of Education and Training, the People's Committee of Hanoi, and related agencies are tasked with guiding and supervising the renaming process, ensuring transparency and preventing negativity, loss, and financial waste.

The name change will not affect the continuous operation of the universities, ensuring the rights and interests of students, lecturers, managers, and employees.

Prosecution University, under the Supreme People's Procuracy, was initially the Supplementary and Training School for Prosecutors, established in 1970. The school has undergone three name changes, becoming Hanoi Prosecution College; and then the Prosecution Training and Refresher School. Since 2013, it has held its current name (until this recent change).

At the university level, the school offers three programs: Law (Prosecution specialization), Law, and Economic Law. The total enrollment target this year is 850.

Hanoi University of Industry and Commerce is a public, application-oriented university, formerly known as the Garment Technical Training and Refresher School, established in 1967. Its current name (prior to this change) dates back to 2015.

The university offers both undergraduate and college-level programs. Undergraduate programs include Garment Technology; Textile Technology; Fashion Design; Graphic Design; Industrial Management; Marketing; Business Administration; Accounting; E-commerce; Mechanical Engineering Technology; and Electrical and Electronic Engineering Technology. In 2025, the university's enrollment target is 1,500.
