University of languages and international studies sets admission floor scores from 15 to 19

The University of Languages and International Studies (ULIS), Vietnam National University, Hanoi, has set its minimum admission scores between 15 and 19, a decrease of 2 to 5 points compared to last year.

On 22/7, ULIS announced its minimum entry requirement scores (admission floor) for all subject combinations (3 subjects). This score does not include the foreign language subject coefficient or bonus points, but it does include regional and preferential points.

The 19-point floor applies to pedagogy, languages, intercultural communication, and Vietnamese language and culture programs. Economics and finance is the only program with a floor score of 15.

The floor score applies to all admission methods after the admission scores are converted to a 30-point scale.

Last year, the university's floor score was 20-21. This year’s decrease comes as the average English score is 0.13 points lower than in 2024, with only over 353,000 candidates achieving a score in this subject, compared to around one million in previous years.

The minimum admission scores for each program at ULIS are as follows:

In 2025, ULIS will admit 2,400 students, an increase of 400 compared to last year. The five admission methods are: direct admission according to the Ministry of Education and Training's regulations; high school graduation exam scores; a combination of foreign language certificates and high school graduation exam scores; high school assessment test (HSA) scores; and a combination of certificates and academic transcripts (for students from high schools under Vietnam National University, Hanoi, and specialized high school students nationwide).

Tuition fees are expected to range from 16.9 million to 65 million VND. The highest level applies to the joint economics and finance program, an increase of over 2.5 million VND due to exchange rate fluctuations.

Intercultural communication and Vietnamese language and culture programs have the lowest tuition fees.

Tuition fees for English, French, Chinese, German, Japanese, and Korean language programs remain at 38 million VND per year. Tuition for Russian and Arabic language programs also remains unchanged at 21 million VND.

In 2024, the benchmark scores for ULIS ranged from 26.75 to 38.45 on a 40-point scale (foreign language subjects multiplied by two), with the highest being English pedagogy.

Currently, candidates can register, adjust, and supplement their university application choices an unlimited number of times until 5 PM on 28/7. They can then submit their application fees online from 29/7 to 5 PM on 5/8.

Candidates can visit VnExpress's University Lookup page to see the fluctuation of benchmark scores over the years by program and university. The system also suggests program groups and universities that had benchmark scores close to the candidates' scores in each subject combination last year.

University benchmark scores will be announced before 5 PM on 22/8.
