This minimum score, announced on the morning of 22/7, applies to all applicants.
For admission based on high school graduation exam scores, the minimum requirement is 16 out of 30. For academic record-based applications, the minimum is 18.
Applicants using competency assessment test results from Hanoi National University of Education (SPT) need a minimum score of 13.25 out of 30.
These minimums apply to all majors and programs except Law, which requires a minimum score of 18. For Law applicants, if the exam combination includes only Math or Literature, the individual subject score must be at least 6. If the combination includes both, the combined score must be above 12.
The university also considers scores from Hanoi University of Science and Technology's thinking assessment test (TSA) and Vietnam National University, Hanoi’s competency assessment test (HSA), with minimum requirements of 40.18 out of 100 and 56.75 out of 150, respectively. These do not apply to Law or English Language programs.
These minimum scores do not include bonus points or regional/subject preferences.

In 2025, the University of Transport Technology plans to enroll 6,500 students—800 more than last year—through six admission methods: the 2025 high school graduation exam, academic records, competency and aptitude tests, direct admission, and prioritized admission.
For high school exam-based admissions, the calculation is as follows:
Admission Score (maximum 30) = Total score of 3 subjects + Preference points (if any)
If the total score of the three subjects is 22.5 or higher (when converted to a 10-point scale), preference points are calculated as:
Preference points = [(30 - Total score achieved)/7.5] x Preference point level
IELTS scores are converted to English subject scores as follows:
IELTS Score | Converted Score |
4.5 | 8 |
5.0 | 8.5 |
5.5 | 9 |
6.0-6.5 | 9.5 |
>=7 | 10 |
If an applicant’s 2025 high school graduation exam English score is higher than the converted IELTS score, the exam score will be used, and vice versa.
For academic record-based admissions, the formula is:
Admission Score = Average score of three subjects (grades 10, 11, and 12) + Bonus points (if any) + Preference points (if any)
Bonus points are awarded for: prizes in provincial/city-level excellent student competitions (in Math, Physics, Chemistry, Computer Science, English, or Literature); a minimum IELTS score of 4.5; or an overall academic performance rating of “Good” or higher (or “Excellent” for students under the 2006 high school program).
Bonus point conversion table (10-point scale):
International English Certificate | Provincial/City Excellent Student Award | Overall High School Academic Performance Rating (Good/Excellent) | |||
IELTS Score | Bonus Points | Prize | Bonus Points | Number of Years | Bonus Points |
4.5 | 0.75 | Third | 0.2 | 1 year | 0.3 |
5.0-5.5 | 1 | Second | 0.4 | 2 years | 0.6 |
6.0-6.5 | 1.25 | First | 0.6 | 3 years | 0.9 |
>=7 | 1.5 |
