VNU-UET sets admissions floors at 22 and 24

The admissions floors for the University of Engineering and Technology (VNU-UET), Vietnam National University, Hanoi, have been set at 22 and 24, the highest among universities that have announced their thresholds.

VNU-UET announced on 18/7 that the admissions threshold for computer science and information technology programs is 24 based on the high school graduation exam scores. The floor of 22 applies to all other programs. Applicants must meet these minimum scores to be considered for admission.

Currently, 24 is the highest admissions floor set by any university. The University of Information Technology, Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City, and the Foreign Trade University previously suggested this threshold in their January admissions information, but have not yet made an official announcement.

Professor Chu Duc Trinh, Rector of VNU-UET, stated that the admissions council set a high minimum entry requirement for computer science, information technology, and AI programs to ensure the quality of incoming students and align with the demands of the curriculum.

"VNU-UET has designed a rigorous curriculum for these programs with high standards for graduates. Only high-achieving students can meet these expectations," Trinh said.

VNU-UET is recruiting 4,020 students for 20 undergraduate programs this year. The four admissions methods include: direct admission, high school graduation exam scores, the Hanoi National University Assessment Test (HSA), and SAT scores.

For admissions based on high school graduation exam scores, the university uses five combinations of subjects: A00 (math, physics, chemistry), A01 (math, physics, English), X26 (math, English, computer science), X06 (math, physics, computer science), and D01 (math with a coefficient of 2, literature, English). The agricultural technology and biotechnology programs also accept the B00 combination (math, chemistry, biology).

The university's tuition fees for the 2025-2026 academic year are set at two levels: 34 and 40 million VND. Most programs maintain the same fees as last year. Two programs, artificial intelligence and industrial design and graphics, saw a 2 million VND increase to 34 million VND. Two other programs, agricultural technology and control engineering and automation, increased by 8 million VND to 40 million VND.

Last year, the standard admission scores for VNU-UET, based on the high school graduation exam, ranged from 22.5 to 27.8, with information technology having the highest requirement.
