Actor from 'Detective Investigation Files' guides autistic son to become a pianist

Tran Cam Hong, a TVB actor from "Detective Investigation Files", accompanies his autistic son in learning foreign languages, piano, and literature.

According to Jimu News, last weekend, Tran Cam Hong and his wife, Do Van Hue, along with their son Tran Gia Hoa, participated in an event as part of Hong Kong's Autism Awareness Week. Images of the family at the event and the couple's journey in raising their son moved many viewers.

Tran Cam Hong and Do Van Hue married in 2004, and Gia Hoa was born in 2007. When he was three years old, Gia Hoa still could not speak. After consultations at various places, the family received a diagnosis that their son had autism.

During that period, Tran Cam Hong's career was thriving; he received positive reviews from audiences for films like Tan Ben Thuong Hai, Thien Dia Hao Tinh, Thu Thach Nghiet Nga, and Detective Investigation Files 4.

Tran Cam Hong decided to reduce his acting work. From 2012, he dedicated himself to his family and spending time with his son. The actor chose "not to hide Gia Hoa," occasionally selecting suitable events and programs for his son to attend and interact with others. "Instead of shying away from others' gazes, we want our son to proactively engage with society," the actor said.

Tran Cam Hong discovered his son had a good memory and better hearing than other family members. Therefore, he guided his son to read ancient books like Tam Tu Kinh and Thien Tu Van. The father and son competed to see who could memorize faster. Before reaching 5 years old, Tran Gia Hoa learned hundreds of Chinese characters. When he started primary school, his Chinese language scores were top in his class.

The actor also found that his son was interested in learning English and German. Over the years, Tran Gia Hoa consistently studied these foreign languages, achieving A grades in his exams. Gia Hoa also possessed a quick ability to memorize musical notes. Starting piano lessons at 11 years old, five years later, he passed the examination to obtain a professional performance certificate. When he participated in several programs, organizers referred to him as a young pianist. Currently, Tran Gia Hoa is pursuing a music major at university, stating he wants to work in the arts field.

Tran Cam Hong admitted that he and his wife were not perfect parents. Over the years, they gradually explored ways and methods to educate their son. He did not consider his actions a sacrifice, as he found much joy in the process of accompanying his son.

"Now my son is much taller than me. Raising him to adulthood and helping him stand on stage happily, able to interact with everyone, that is a huge achievement for me. I am very satisfied with my accomplishments over the past decade or so," Tran Cam Hong said.

The actor once published a book titled "My Son Taught Me to Understand", which details the growth journey of both son and father. For him, Tran Gia Hoa is the true guide. "My son made me re-examine myself, understand what I truly want, and from there, learn how to let go in life. As long as you are willing, you will surely become a good father, and in that nurturing process, you gain more than you lose," the actor wrote.

The actor stated that he can now confidently return to work, and if there is an interesting role, he can go to the set at any time.
