Dang Khoi is one of 12 vocalists in the show, joined by contestants from Kazakhstan, Georgia, Kyrgyzstan, Malaysia, Turkey, South Africa, Russia, Serbia, Brazil, New Zealand, and host country China. He expressed a desire to showcase the beauty of his homeland through the program. To achieve this, he and his team dedicated significant time to research, practice, and meticulously invest in each performance, covering music, choreography, and stage visuals, to deliver polished and emotional acts.

The program's launch event on 19/8 saw all 12 singers present, where they performed the theme song "Tieng hat duoi bau troi sao" (Singing Under the Starry Sky), Sina reported. A promotional video introducing the contestants featured Dang Khoi alongside Hi Lam Na Y Cao (China), A Moc Sa (Malaysia), and Lucia (Kazakhstan).
CRI reported that "Silk Way Star" is a collaborative effort between China Media Group (CMG) and the Presidential Broadcasting Organization of the Republic of Kazakhstan. CMG stated the program serves as an international cultural exchange project, utilizing music to bridge nations along the "Silk Road". While the show is slated to air on CCTV, China Central Television, a specific broadcast schedule is not yet available. The inaugural season concluded in late 2025, crowning Mongolian contestant Michelle Joseph as the champion.
Dang Khoi, 43, originally from Hanoi, received the Promising Young Male Singer award at Lan Song Xanh 2007. Throughout his 15-year career, he has released 10 albums, which include popular tracks such as "Co be mua dong" (Winter Girl), "Thien duong vang em" (Paradise Without You), and "Vi sao trong anh" (Why In Me). He is happily married to Thuy Anh, a former model and actress, and they have two sons. In 2024, he gained considerable audience support for his participation in "Anh trai vuot ngan chong gai" (Brothers Overcoming Thousands of Thorns).
In recent years, a growing number of Vietnamese artists have sought opportunities in Chinese music programs. Chi Pu initiated this trend by competing in "Dap gio" (Sisters Who Make Waves) in 2023, where she emerged as one of the top winners. Suni Ha Linh and Trang Phap followed suit, appearing in subsequent seasons of the same show. In 2025, Phuong My Chi also made headlines for her third-place finish in "Sing! Asia".
