The family of George Clooney evacuated their estate in Brignoles, Provence-Alpes-Cote d'Azur, on 29/7, as wildfires continue to spread across southeastern France. The region is among several in Europe impacted by the blazes. Clooney and his wife informed city mayor Didier Bremond of their departure via a letter, according to People on 29/7.
In their letter, the couple conveyed concern for their "beautiful home" and wished for the safety of Mayor Bremond and local residents. They also committed to supporting the community's recovery following the disaster.

The wildfires, which started in early July, have affected multiple European nations, including Spain, Portugal, and Greece, according to Hello Magazine. In France, hazardous fires have consumed an area four times the size of Paris, as reported by AP. This has led to the evacuation of around 224,000 people from Gironde province and 3,000 from Provence-Alpes-Cote d'Azur.
George Clooney, his 48-year-old wife Amal, a human rights lawyer, and their twins Alexander and Ella, relocated to Brignoles 5 years ago. Clooney acquired the estate, a former vineyard, for USD 8.3 million in 2021. The family anticipates gaining French citizenship in December 2025.
Speaking to Esquire in October 2025, Clooney shared his appreciation for raising his children at the estate. He believes the rural setting fosters better development for Alexander and Ella, shielding them from the unfair treatment often experienced by celebrity children in Hollywood. "In this country, no one cares about fame," he remarked. "I don't want my children to go out and worry about paparazzi. I also don't want them to be compared to children of famous people."
Clooney's affinity for Europe is long-standing, as noted by Guardian. He married Amal in Venice, Italy, in 2014. Beyond their French estate, he owns property near Lake Como, Italy, and a villa in England. He also maintains residences in the US, including an apartment in New York and a home in his native Kentucky.
Born in 1961, George Clooney is known for acclaimed films including Out Of Sight, Ocean's Eleven, Up In The Air, Gravity, and The Midnight Sky. His accolades include three Golden Globe Awards for acting and two Academy Awards: one for his role in Syriana and another as a producer for Argo. He is also recognized for his distinctive style.
Amal Clooney, born in 1978, is a British-Lebanese human rights lawyer. She holds degrees from St Hugh's College, Oxford, and New York University, where she earned a Master of Laws. Her career highlights include work on hostage rescues, advocating for social activists, and combating genocide.
