Jing Tian goes for beauty treatment after billionaire sues her for dowry

Chinese actress Jing Tian visited a spa for beauty care amid a controversy where her ex-boyfriend sued her to reclaim a dowry.

According to Sohu, on 31/8, the actress, accompanied by an assistant, wore a mask and hat, dressed comfortably. Sources state Jing Tian appeared calm and natural, seemingly unaffected by the scandal.

Her new photos quickly became a trending topic on Weibo. Viewers commented: "What's done is done; should she hide away and not face anyone, or cry and grieve?", "Monetary disputes should be resolved by the court; I like how she handles things", "Jing Tian must pretend to be normal to prove her 'innocence'."

Since late August, the star has been the subject of widespread discussion after billionaire Justin Sun (Ton Vu Than) announced he was suing the actress and her parents, demanding they return a dowry of 30 million yuan (nearly 4,5 million USD). Justin Sun is the founder of the Tron blockchain network. According to Forbes, he possesses assets worth 8,5 billion USD.

The entrepreneur also published a 6.000-word essay titled "My Girlfriend, Jing Tian", detailing their relationship. The essay described how the actress spent his money and demanded lavish support. Justin Sun wrote that Jing Tian requested 50 million USD for her to hire a surrogate, following AI advice. Justin Sun refused the transfer, leading the actress to leave him.

Justin Sun annotated the essay's content as "fictional" but, when interviewed by Tech Ifeng, was ambiguous about its authenticity: "Most of the content aligns with my thoughts. I labeled it 'fictional' because I cannot guarantee 100% of the details are true. But at least I wrote what I thought, including my concerns."

In recent days, Jing Tian has received numerous mocking and supportive comments. Some viewers believe she is "greedy for money, accepting a dowry without returning it, and lacking self-respect." Others criticized Justin Sun for publicizing a woman's private life and romantic affairs, expressing support for Jing Tian. Jing Tian's follower count increased by hundreds of thousands after the scandal.

Jing Tian has been reserved in response to her ex-boyfriend's actions. On her personal page, the actress wrote that she would never "betray love" for money. The star admitted she lacked judgment in choosing people.

A representative for Jing Tian's management company released a statement: "Honor is an artist's survival, and also an artist's vulnerability. But we have the courage to say 'No' to those who exploit this to oppress artists. We trust the law and will adhere to legal procedures to resolve the matter."
