Vo Song Huong's youthful prime

Vo Song Huong, star of the film "Dong Doi", was a familiar face on screen from the 1990s to the 2000s, known for her serene and kind beauty.

A series of magazine and newspaper covers from the actress's youth were introduced to the public by director Le Quang Thanh Tam.

In the 1990s, Vietnamese cinema welcomed a new generation of beauties. Not possessing overly sharp beauty, Vo Song Huong made her mark with her own graceful, gentle features.

Vo Song Huong was born in 1975 in Tien Giang (now Dong Thap). In 1994, after participating in the Charming Student of TP HCM contest, the rustic, distinctly Southern Vietnamese beauty of the literature student caught the attention of filmmakers. She debuted in cinema with her first role in the film "Toi va Em" by director Xuan Cuong.

The actress was voted "most promising new face" by journalists as she continued to appear in "Bong Hoa Rung Sac", "Song Gio Doi Nguoi", "Khong The Re Trai", "Mat Troi Dem", and "Nguoi Dep Tay Do".

In the early 2000s, director Le Cung Bac's film "Dong Doi" elevated Vo Song Huong's career. In the film, she portrayed Nam, a kind and resilient woman facing life's challenges. This role resonated with audiences, earning her the "most favorite television actress" award.

Beyond her on-screen success, Vo Song Huong was a sought-after face for wall calendars, newspaper covers, and art publications. During that era, readers often collected beautiful newspaper covers, creating a shared memory for one generation.

Despite a burgeoning career, Vo Song Huong chose to step away from showbiz to pursue education. After graduating from university, she continued with master's and doctoral studies in cultural studies. In 2016, she successfully defended her doctoral thesis, transitioning from a famous actress to a career in teaching and research.

In 2017, Vo Song Huong made a rare public appearance at the 60th anniversary of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, TP HCM. She is currently a lecturer in the Vietnamese Studies department at the university. She maintains a quiet life, avoiding social media and keeping her personal affairs private.
