The "Rush Hour 4" project, initiated late last year, aims to reunite Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker after nearly 20 years. However, a source indicated that producers initially offered USD 8 million for each actor, less than half of what they each received for filming the third installment in 2007. Consequently, neither actor has agreed to participate, holding out for a more suitable offer.

A source close to TMZ reported that the production company and the stars are continuing negotiations, a standard practice in the film industry. There is a strong possibility that Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker will return to the classic franchise, with filming likely beginning late this summer. Brett Ratner, who recently garnered attention for his documentary about former US First Lady Melania Trump, "Melania: Twenty Days to History", is still slated to direct.
Brett Ratner had planned to make "Rush Hour 4" for many years but faced funding issues. Late last year, Paramount Pictures greenlit the project after former US President Donald Trump publicly endorsed the film. Trump reportedly lobbied for funding through friends and investor Larry Ellison, the largest shareholder of Paramount Skydance.
In previous interviews, actor Jackie Chan expressed his desire to star in "Rush Hour 4". While promoting "Karate Kids: Legends" in 2025, he responded to questions about the project, stating: "I don't know when the film will shoot; ask the director, the studio, or the scriptwriter. Hurry up, or Chris Tucker and I will be 100 years old." This highlights his eagerness but also a sense of urgency regarding the project's timeline.

Each film features a humorous yet intense dynamic between detective James Carter (played by Chris Tucker) and inspector Yan Naing Lee (Jackie Chan) as they dismantle criminal organizations. The movies feature action, martial arts, and comedic dialogue. The franchise played a significant role in establishing Jackie Chan as an internationally influential Chinese star.
