Journalism award for the development of Vietnamese culture

The 4th journalism award for the development of Vietnamese culture seeks works that disseminate humanitarian values and inspire creativity.

At the launch ceremony on 12/8 in Hanoi, Nguyen Anh Vu, Editor-in-Chief of Bao Van Hoa and Deputy Head of the Organizing Committee, stated that the award aims to feature works that vividly reflect cultural life, uncover significant issues for Vietnamese cultural development, and encourage innovative, in-depth journalism.

This year, the award continues across 5 categories: print journalism, online journalism, radio, television, and photojournalism. A notable aspect of this year's competition is the regulations concerning the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in journalistic creation and content production. The rules emphasize that submissions must ensure authenticity, accuracy, and objectivity; works created entirely by AI will not be considered. For content with significant AI use, authors or media organizations must appropriately label or disclose it.

For photojournalism, the organizing committee will not accept images created or manipulated by AI, nor any technical alterations that change the content or nature of the event. Submitted works must also be free from disputes and copyright infringements.

Submissions must have been published or broadcast between 1/8/2025 and 31/8/2026, with each work not exceeding 5 installments. Applications should be sent to Bao Van Hoa, 141 Nguyen Thai Hoc, O Cho Dua ward, Hanoi, postmarked by 5/9. The summary and award ceremony is expected to be held in Hanoi on Vietnamese Culture Day, 24/11.

In each category, the organizing committee will present one first prize, two second prizes, three third prizes, and 5 consolation prizes, with respective awards of 50 million VND, 25 million VND, 15 million VND, and 10 million VND. Three media organizations with many entries and high achievements will receive collective awards.

In addition to the familiar categories, the organizing committee has for the first time added a special prize for an outstanding work across all categories. The prize is valued at 100 million VND, along with a travel package.

The award was initiated by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in 2023. Starting in 2025, the National Journalism Award for the Development of Culture, Sports and Tourism was renamed the National Journalism Award for the Development of Vietnamese Culture. Last year, 95 works across various genres were honored.
