On 8/2, to mark their 25th wedding anniversary, Anita Yuen posted a video on her personal page, documenting their journey from when they first fell in love until now. The actress wrote, "A home with two people, three meals a day through four seasons. 25 years, truly the essence of youth. For the rest of our lives, I hope you continue to be gentle and interesting."
The song in the video features lyrics written by Julian Cheung, performed by a friend of the couple. The lyrics originated from a love letter the actor wrote to his wife, which he read aloud during a marriage-themed reality show in 2016. The entire letter was later set to music:
"My dear, if love could simply be expressed by writing a love letter on television, pouring out all the emotions of so many years, how simple everything in life would be. My dear, if love could be proven by a few words or by shouting 'I love you' for the whole world to hear, then we do not understand that kind of love. So, what is our love? It is between night and day; between warmth and arguments; between joy and illness; between being lost and finding success; between conception and loss. Love exists between birth and passing. Therefore, if I truly need to write a love letter to you, I will dedicate my entire life to writing it. And you, please dedicate your entire life to slowly reading the love letter in my heart, my lifelong love letter."
Anita Yuen and Julian Cheung began their relationship in 1992, secretly registering their marriage in 2001. Their son is 20 years old this year and is studying in Europe. For many years, the couple lived in rented homes, believing that high property prices made renting more economical. In 2017, Julian Cheung purchased an apartment for USD 12 million to provide a stable home for his family.
On Mango TV, Anita Yuen shared that the couple repeatedly attempted in-vitro fertilization to have more children, driven by their son's wish for a sibling. However, after much hope and anticipation, they only received "I am very sorry" from the doctor.
Julian Cheung, 55 years old, is renowned for films such as: "The Legend of the Condor Heroes 1994", "Return of the Cuckoo", "Triumph in the Skies", and "L Storm". According to On, the actor has registered to donate his organs after his passing. He diligently exercises to stay healthy, protect his body, quit smoking, and limit alcohol consumption. Cheung has also registered to donate bone marrow. "I hope my actions can convey love and help other lives," the actor stated.
