Actor Law Kar-ying, 80, remains dedicated to his career in Hong Kong, with a fully booked schedule leaving no time for leisure travel. According to Today Line, at an event on 8/10, he mentioned his reluctance to retire stems from a need to accumulate savings for his future, especially as his monthly medical expenses exceed 10,000 HKD (approximately 33 million dong).
While his current health is stable, Law Kar-ying acknowledges the uncertainty of the future. He expressed, "When I am old and frail, having more money will ensure I have more people to care for me."

In May, Law Kar-ying disclosed his prostate cancer had recurred. After consulting a familiar doctor, he chose injections and medication over chemotherapy or electrotherapy. His doctor informed him he could live 8-9 more years, a prospect he views as longevity, reaching nearly 90.
Despite his health challenges, Law Kar-ying maintains a philosophical perspective on death. "I feel no fear; when that time comes, I will peacefully and comfortably bid farewell to everyone," he stated. He even joked with his illness, saying, "Look, if I die, you die too. It's best you don't torment me, and I won't torment you."
Law Kar-ying's regular cancer screenings have facilitated early detection of abnormalities and timely treatment. In recent months, he has continued to perform in stage plays, attend events, and impart knowledge of traditional Chinese opera.
This is not Law Kar-ying's first battle with serious illness. In 2004, he was diagnosed with liver cancer, which recurred in 2014. Five years later, he received treatment for prostate cancer. Throughout these challenges, the artist has maintained an optimistic spirit, often reciting the Buddhist Heart Sutra. This practice helped him gradually comprehend life philosophies, overcoming anxiety and avoiding dwelling on negative thoughts. For the past 20 years, his consistent follow-up appointments every six months have ensured a smooth treatment process.

Beyond his health concerns, Law Kar-ying holds a significant position in Hong Kong's opera scene. He has also appeared in many famous films, including "A Chinese Odyssey" (as Tang Monk), "From Beijing with Love," "God of Gamblers II," and "The Conman 2000."
He married TVB actress Liza Wang in 2009; the couple has no children. Liza Wang was a key TVB actress in the 1970s and 1980s, starring in dramas such as "The Greed of Man," "The Heroine of Yang," "Chor Lau-heung," "The Heaven Sword and Dragon Saber 1978," "Wars of In-Laws," and "Heart of Greed."
