Michelle Chen: not sad about being called 'bun face'

Taiwanese actress Michelle Chen says she is content with her chubby cheeks, with no intention of pursuing the trend of pointed chins and thin faces.

On 17/12, an entertainment blogger posted a series of photos of Michelle Chen's face with the comment: "Cheeks like these are truly like steamed buns; one can only imagine how soft they are to pinch. A round face like this is cute."

Michelle Chen responded to the post with three question marks. According to Sohu, the nickname "bun face" has been associated with the actress for over 10 years, since her role as Xiao Long Nu in *The Return of the Condor Heroes* (2014). At the time, many viewers criticized Chen's round face, saying it did not fit the delicate, ethereal image of Xiao Long Nu.

Currently, the film *Butterfly Sniper*, in which the actress plays the lead, is gaining attention. She has received largely positive feedback on her acting and youthful appearance for her age 42. Her chubby face has become a topic of discussion for thousands of viewers, mostly in good-natured teasing. Fans wrote: "What's wrong with a bun face? Healthy and natural is beautiful," and "It's a good thing Michelle Chen didn't follow the trend of pointed chins and thin faces."

On Ifeng, the actress said her cheeks are a feature girls "love to pinch," and she has never considered cosmetic surgery to follow the trend of small, slender faces. Michelle Chen focuses on practicing pilates and controlling her food intake to avoid being overweight.

The actress rose to fame with the film *You Are The Apple of My Eye* (2011). In 2013, she met actor Chen Xiao while portraying Xiao Long Nu and Yang Guo in *The Return of the Condor Heroes*. They married in 2016. Afterward, Chen limited her work to care for their child and manage their family, while Chen Xiao continued to work on film sets. The couple announced their divorce in February, and their son lives with his mother.
