New miss world wears ao dai inspired by her crown

Miss World 2026 Joheirry Mola Dominguez wore a stylized ao dai, with colors matching her crown, during post-coronation exchange activities.

Following the Miss World final, new Miss World Joheirry Mola Dominguez participated in a series of charitable activities and exchanges with partner organizations in Khanh Hoa, TP HCM, Quang Ninh, and Hai Phong. At an event in Quang Ninh, the beauty queen wore an ao dai by designer Duy Tran. This marked her first time choosing Vietnamese traditional attire since winning the crown, though she had worn ao dai in some previous Miss World activities.

The designer stated that the beauty queen was impressed by the idea of incorporating the distinctive blue hue from the crown she won. The outfit features a traditional silhouette with a soft cinched waist, updated through structural processing techniques on sheer mesh fabric.

The visual highlight lies in manually embossed blue chiffon strips, evoking the movement of water waves. Duy Tran applied acrylic paint directly onto the surface, creating a natural ombre effect. Thousands of beads and sequins meticulously attached to the chiffon allow the garment to shimmer with every movement, embodying the spirit of high-end evening wear design.

The designer said, "I want to uphold the core spirit of the Vietnamese ao dai, while incorporating modern material processing techniques to create a highly fashionable appearance."

Joheirry Mola Dominguez, 24, from the Dominican Republic, was crowned the 73rd Miss World on 5/9. She graduated with a degree in Business Administration from Iberoamericana University and currently works as a model and reporter for Univision New York. The beauty queen is noted for her educational background and the community project "Voices of Tomorrow", which supports English language access for disadvantaged youth.

Duy Tran, whose real name is Tran Kim Vinh, is 34 years old and a graduate of the University of Architecture TP HCM. With over 10 years in fashion, the designer has defined his style through ao dai and high-end apparel. He focuses on pattern making techniques, handmade material treatment, and integrating Vietnamese cultural elements into contemporary designs. In 2025, Duy Tran, along with designer Eric Moon, launched their own brand, focusing on the luxury segment with ao dai as the main product. Many domestic and international beauties have chosen his designs for public appearances.
