At the launch of his "Vietnam - An era of reaching out" MV series, commemorating 80 years of National Day, Nguyen Vu said he has recently pursued community-focused music projects, not prioritizing commercial success. "I'm past the stage of worrying about making ends meet. Moreover, I want to be home, spending as much time as possible with my mother," the singer said.

After the passing of his close friend, model Nam Phong, in early July, he has become even more aware of life's fragility and focused more on family. He currently lives with his nearly 90-year-old mother in Ho Chi Minh City. Nguyen Vu's four older brothers are married and live separately. The singer regularly takes his mother for checkups, and fortunately, she has no serious underlying health conditions.
There was a time when he juggled four jobs at once: singing, acting, running a business, and emceeing. Gradually, he realized a meal with his mother "is more valuable than the tens of millions of dong earned from shows."
For Nguyen Vu, happiness is being with his mother, taking care of her every meal and ensuring she sleeps well. Some friends tease him, saying, "You're old but still living with your mom?" The singer says that in his mother's eyes, he is still a child, always needing care. Every day, the singer arranges his performance schedule to make time for dinner at home. "There was a time I moved out for the convenience of performing and to have more freedom. But thinking of my mother eating alone at the dinner table, I moved back in," he said.
According to the singer, his mother's influence is present in every step of his career. When filming a music video or acting in a movie, he always consults her. Occasionally, they watch his films and TV programs he judges together.
For years, he has avoided scandals to prevent upsetting his mother. "She doesn't use social media, but whenever she goes out, she asks acquaintances about me. I always want my mother's advice and guidance to avoid mistakes and stumbles in life," he said.
